my garden

Young women's sight

At a poetry reading the other night

I laughed with childish delight

At an old man’s poem

About young women’s chosen sight

It seems they had chosen not to see him

Well when you add me, him is them

But then they never saw me very well

For I didn’t seem to ring their bell

I had nice even features

And my eyes were a pretty blue

Glib of tongue, and a nice smile too

Yet I never roused lust

Well now I am basically

A pile of rust

With creaking joints

And faded eyes

Yet in my dreams

Both day and night,

I still hear sighs

And know I’m a Delight

For I too have selective sight

Wet news

Standing in the pouring rain this morning, holding the newpaper that had been delivered with no plastic bag, it was a piece of pulp, unreadable. Now rain had been forecast and the likely hood was 100 percent, what would cause my news delivery person to do this? I called my neighbor to see if their's had been bagged, it had not, so no news for us today. I think I shall apply for the delivery job as I have lots of time on my hands and I am up early anyway. Who knows maybe I am not to old to be a paper boy.

Julie sweet 19

My little girl just turned 19 and I could't resist putting a picture of her on the blog. She is so pretty she makes your heart ache.

Just a great day

I have had a wonderful day, the okra produced about a bushel, the grocery store buys it, and I get to be outside early in the morning with the birds and the deer. They sing sweet songs, the birds not the deer. My brother in law's dog walks up and down the row with me to keep company. I took fluffy for a walk and groomed him, he does not like baths or hair cuts, but both went well. Julie is home from school and she seems to be in a good mood. Carol has went shopping and I know that puts her in a good mood so all in all a very nice day.

What I read

I will reprint one of the poems I read. This one is important to me.

Hi hi those twinkling eyes
Did upon me smile
Why why did she pick me
I wonder all the while

Try try to understand
She truly does love me
My my the heart does race
For utterly do I love thee

Sigh sigh I long for her
Every day love stronger
Cry cry I miss her so
I can wait no longer

Fie fie this stand and wait
Impatience grows the while
Hie hie with all my haste
I'm going after that smile

Shy shy is not my game
For it's her I'm after
High high watch me soar
I think I hear her laughter

Poetry reading

I just finished my first public poetry reading, I read two poems and they were well received, applause was polite and folks made positive comments. I felt good about it and will do it again next month. Was a little nervous but survived.

Moss rose growing between the patio stones. Their color takes my breath. They wait for the sun all snugly closed. But as soon as the sun peeks over the horizon they burst into bloom you can almost hear them say good morning. These were my great grand father's favorite flower all of those who knew him said he planted them everywhere. I can understand his feelings after seeing these in bloom. OK, this is my blog that I will do most of my compositions and photos on. It is called Writing in the sand. I hope all my blog friends from trivia will come and visit me here. This painting is a large one, 36 inches by 24 and my dear wife has let me hang it in the entry way to our home. She is very kind to me.
